Poker Hands: Class 1 For Novice Players

Poker sequences are five-card combinations that you are expected to form along the card game course to win in the end. From the Royal Flush to the High Card - there are 10 poker hands in all. The rarer your hand, the better your opportunities to win. This is the lesson you must learn before you attempt anything else. So, let us look at all 10 combinations in the order of their strength. 

Royal Flush 

Number one in our list of poker hands is undeniably the Royal Flush combination. To form this rare and supreme hand, you must have the King, Queen, Ace, Jack and Ten from the same suit. This combination is unbeatable. 

Straight Flush 

The second most-strongest combination is the Straight Flush which is also incredibly rare to form. To make this mighty sequence, you must have five cards from the same suit in sequential order. Therefore, the Royal Flush is the best possible Straight Flush. 

Four of a Kind 

Up next in our list of poker hand rankings is the robust Four of a Kind hand. To form this combination, you must have four cards of the same rank in your five-card pile. 

Full House 

The Full House is a combination of two other poker sequences: The Pair and the Three of a Kind. So, you must have three cards of the same rank along with two other cards of the same rank to form this high-end combination. 

Flush 

Flushes are known to be prime match-winners in most poker card games. To form this rare hand, you must have five cards from the same suit regardless of the order they are held in. 

Straight 

Straights are also regarded as essential combinations, and they win most casual games. To form this rare yet findable sequence, you must have five cards in order regardless of their suits. 

Three of a Kind 

With the Three of a Kind, we enter the set of combinations that are common to form and that can be winning sequences but cannot be relied on. To form the Three of a Kind, you must have no more than three cards of the same rank. 

Two Pair 

The Two Pair is formed when you have two cards of the same rank alongside two other cards of the same rank. Having this combination could give you a chance to compete but do not expect a lot. 

Pair 

Like the name gives it away, the Pair is formed when you have only two cards of the same rank. Your chances here are almost non-existent. 

High Card 

Lastly, we have the worst poker hand combination of them all - the High Card. This hand is formed when your sequence does not match any other formations we just went over. You must always fold this because it has no chance of winning.
